Agchems defended in Brazil debate on bee deaths link

A Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture official defended the use of pesticides at a commission meeting in Parliament debating the link between agrochemical use and bee deaths. Alexandre José Cattelan from the Ministry’s agricultural research corporation, the Embrapa, told MPs that a fifth of the country’s soybean production would be lost to one pest were aerial pesticide applications not carried out.  The general manager of Embrapa’s national soybean research centre believes that several factors combine to impact bees, not pesticides alone.
