FMC gains rights to Bayer pesticide in N America
FMC has acquired exclusive North American rights to an unidentified pesticide active ingredient from Bayer CropScience. FMC will develop and distribute the "broad-spectrum crop protection product" for arable crops in the US and Canada. It plans to start the development and registration process next year and expects to launch the product in the following two to three years. FMC will not release details of the ai or its chemical class at this time, but says that it fills a gap in the company's portfolio. "This agreement to develop and market this promising new product highlights the increasing collaboration between FMC and Bayer CropScience and the success both companies have created in bringing new crop protection technologies to growers," says Mark Douglas, president of FMC's agricultural solutions division.
