Philippines stands by GMO safety assessment

The Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reiterated that all food products derived from genetically modified crops approved for cultivation within the country are safe. Such products have passed the safety assessment based on the UN FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius Commission's risk analysis of food derived from modern biotechnology (CAC/GL 44-2003) and guidelines for the conduct of food safety assessment of foods derived from recombinant-DNA plants (CAC/GL45-2003), the FDA says. It maintains that all food derived from GM crops in the market is as safe and nutritious as the food derived from conventional crops for direct use as food, feed and in processing.
