EU defends EFSA report on EDs

The European Commission has rejected criticism of European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) conclusions on a risk assessment approach for substances that are potential endocrine disruptors (EDs). The criticism came in a letter from the environmentalist group, Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Europe, which questioned a report issued by the EFSA in March (Agrow No 661, p 12). In its reply to the letter, the Commission stands by the EFSA’s definition of EDs and its independence in reaching its conclusions.
