China's first-half glyphosate exports soar
In the first six months of 2013, China's exports of the herbicide, glyphosate, saw large increases in value and volume terms, according to Chinese agrochemical media reports. The reports come from a July glyphosate industry summit organised by the China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA). Value exports of the active ingredient amounted to $1,305 million, an increase of 76.1%, and accounting for 29% of total exports. Volume exports were up 27.2% to 341,500 tonnes, accounting for 27.2% of the total. Glyphosate imports decreased in value and volumes, down 17.9% to $24 million, and 18.9% to 8,800 tonnes, respectively.
