Mendel/Medina seek biostimulant products
The US genomics company, Mendel Biotechnology (Hayward, California), has entered into a licensing collaboration with the Spanish non-profit research group, Fundacion Medina (Granada), to identify biostimulants for improving plant stress tolerance, water and nutrient use efficiency, and yield. Medina will provide Mendel with microbial extracts for screening purposes to identify products that could be applied as seed treatments or foliar applications. "The screening of their [Medina's] unique collections using Mendel's proprietary high-throughput Productivity Report Panel will yield new biostimulant products," says Mendel's chief executive officer, Neal Gutterson. "These new products offer a sustainable, environmentally friendly means of enhancing crop productivity in broad acre and specialty crops worldwide."
