More debate over EFSA agchem/bee guidance

New guidance on the EU assessment of pesticide effects on bees "sets unrealistic expectations and enforces measures that will be impractical for member states and applicants to carry out", says the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA). The guidance was issued by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in July and covers the assessment of additional exposure routes, sub-lethal and long-term effects, and a wider range of bee species (Agrow No 668, p 7). The EFSA plans to hold a workshop in September to "have an open dialogue" on the issues raised by the new guidelines.
