Monsanto debuts Intacta soybeans in Brazil
Monsanto has launched its genetically modified insect-resistant and glyphosate-tolerant Intacta RR2 Pro (MON87701xMON89788) soybeans in Brazil. The company had sought approval for import of the produce from Intacta into China, which it gained in June (Agrow No 666, p 25). It has also agreed a deal with soybean grower groups on a payment system (see this issue). Intacta RR2 Pro is the first soybean line to combine Bt insect resistance technology with MON89788 glyphosate herbicide tolerance, and has been developed for the South American market.
