July 2013 Patent Watch
In July, the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or the European Patent Office (EPO) published 11 applications that concerned new agrochemicals from four companies and one research institute. BASF led the way with five patents, followed by Bayer CropScience and DuPont with two each. Sumitomo Chemical had one patent application published, as did Konju National University (Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea). The most popular category was insecticides, with seven patents. Two patents covered fungicides and there was one concerning each of herbicides and nematicides.
