Costa Rica to amend agchem import approval rules
The Costa Rican Ministry of Agriculture is finalising changes to regulations to simplify the pesticide registration process, according to national media reports. Minister Gloria Abraham reportedly says that new legislation will be ready "within weeks". She claims that new rules would allow the processing of pesticide registrations that have so far been held up "provoking a backlog of substances stretching back four years", the newspaper, Prensa Libre, reports. The Ministry’s plant health inspection service, the SFE, told the newspaper that 156 active ingredients remain in the "backlog".
