BASF opens expanded US research facility
BASF has inaugurated its expanded US research facilities in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina. The $33 million extension includes 80,000 sq ft (7,430 m) of office, laboratory and greenhouse facilities. An environmentally controlled insect rearing facility will allow expanded insecticide research. "A significant share of BASF's insecticide research is conducted at RTP. These larger facilities will enable us to evaluate our promising insecticide candidates faster," says Nevin McDougall, senior vice-president of BASF's North American crop protection business. The company unveiled plans for the expansion last year (Agrow No 634, p 2).
