Monsanto ends RR1 soy royalty charges in Paraguay
Monsanto has terminated all charges for use of its first-generation genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant Roundup Ready soybeans in Paraguay, the company has confirmed to Agrow. National reports had claimed the company had given up the charges last month, which amounted to $4 per tonne of produced soybeans. The company says that it came to an agreement with grower unions to end payments unconditionally. "In Paraguay, all our business is based on consensus with the whole chain and we have a very good relationship with growers' leaders," it adds.
