Sepro loses EU flurprimidol lawsuit
Sepro Europe, the UK-based subsidiary of US specialty agrochemical company Sepro, has lost a lawsuit seeking to overturn an EU decision not to re-register the plant growth regulator, flurprimidol. It had challenged a European Commission decision in 2011, which was the second time that the active ingredient had failed to gain re-registration (Agrow No 617, p 7). The company claimed that it had provided the additional information needed to resolve concerns identified in the first evaluation, and that the EU authorities had made "manifest errors" in their assessment. However, in a ruling in September, the European Court of Justice's General Court rejected the company's claims.
