Syngenta agrees Brazil WideStrike cotton supply deal

Syngenta has "formalised" a partnership with two organisations in Brazil, the Matto Grosso agricultural research aid foundation (Fundação MT) and Tropical Improvement and Genetics (TMG). The tie-up allows Syngenta to supply Dow AgroSciences' genetically modified insect-resistant WideStrike cotton, it says. Syngenta presented two WideStrike varieties at the ninth Brazilian cotton congress this month.  The Brazilian biosafety authorities recommended approval for the sale and use of WideStrike cotton in 2009 (Agrow No 564, p 23). Syngenta agreed a Brazilian cotton seed distribution deal with Fundação MT in 2011 (Agrow No 632, pp 35-39).
