Gowan/Starpharma sign technology deal
The US agrochemical company, Gowan (Yuma, Arizona), has reached an agreement with the Australian dendrimer molecular technology firm, Starpharma (Melbourne, Victoria), to use Starpharma's Priostar dendrimer technology in agrochemical formulations. It will be evaluated as a potential enhancement for certain Gowan products intended for use in high-value markets, the companies point out. Dendrimers are nanoscale polymers that can be used to improve product efficacy, ease handling and reduce applications. Starpharma is using the technology to develop an enhanced version of the herbicide, glyphosate, and has partnerships with Nufarm and ChemChina subsidiary Makhteshim-Agan Industries (Agrow No 660, p 2).
