Sumitomo opens branch in Argentina
Sumitomo Chemical's Brazilian subsidiary, Sumitomo Chemical Brazil, has opened an office in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The company is focusing particularly on selling its flumioxazin herbicide, for use on soybeans. It has worked with a national distributor to undertake the development, registration and distribution of crop protection products in Argentina. Sumitomo intends its Argentine office to play a role in expanding its relationships with Monsanto and Australian company Nufarm, and sees Latin America as a key market for its conventional agrochemical products, it says. The group already has branches in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica and Honduras.
