US EPA OKs Fine Agrochemicals PGR

The US EPA has proposed the approval of UK plant growth regulator (PGR) specialist Fine Agrochemicals' (Worcester) PGR, Blush (prohydrojasmon), for fruit colour development and enhancement on red apples. Prohydrojasmon has been classified as "biochemical like" due to its non-toxic mode of action and it being structurally and functionally identical to the naturally occurring PGR, jasmonic acid, the EPA notes. It notified receipt of the registration application in December 2012 (Agrow No 655, p 12). The proposed approval is open to public comment for 15 days until October 3rd.
