New Zealand OKs import of Bithor insecticide

The New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has approved the import of the insecticide, Bithor (imidacloprid 55 g/litre + bifenthrin 45 g/litre), for the control of ants around domestic and commercial buildings. The New Zealand pest control company, Ensystex NZ (Auckland), applied to the EPA to import the insecticide earlier this year (Agrow No 664, p 25). The EPA stipulates that labels should carry warnings aimed at preventing exposure and entering waterways, and protecting non-target insects such as bees.
