USDA deregulates three more GM crops

The USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has deregulated three more genetically modified crops under the new consultation process that was introduced last year. They are: Monsanto's glyphosate-tolerant Truflex (MON88302) canola; French company Genective's glyphosate-tolerant VCO-01981 maize and Monsanto's MON87427 maize with tissue-selective tolerance to glyphosate. The APHIS made preliminary deregulation decisions in July and prepared environmental and plant risk assessments, and preliminary findings of no significant impact for public comment (Agrow No 669, p 14).
