EU approvals to be expanded for two biocides
European Commission proposals to expand EU biocide uses for two existing active ingredients were voted through by the EU Standing Committee on Biocidal Products in September. Etofenprox, which was approved for use in wood preservatives in 2008 (Agrow No 538, p 9), would also be registered for insecticide use. The EU approval for aluminium phosphide would be extended to use for the control of other vertebrates through the release of phosphine. The ai was registered for use in rodenticides in 2009 and insecticides in 2010 (Agrow No 586, p 10).
