Container recycling up 17% in Chile
The collection and recycling of empty pesticide packages in Chile rose by 17% in the first half of 2013 to some 137 tonnes, according to the crop protection industry association, the Afipa. That involved the return of over 468,000 empty containers. Most recycled containers are used as an "alternative fuel source". The association managed the collection of over 250 tonnes in the whole of last year including almost 1 million containers, 99% of which were recycled (Agrow No 662, p 22).
