EU approval nears for eight new ais
The EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health has voted in favour of granting full EU approval for eight new active ingredients. The ais are: Isagro's fungicide, benalaxyl-M (marketed as kiralaxyl); DuPont's insecticide, chlorantraniliprole (trade-marked as Rynaxypyr); Oro Agri's insecticide, orange oil; DuPont/Mitsui Chemicals' fungicide, penthiopyrad; Dow AgroSciences' herbicide, pyroxsulam; Chrysal International's plant growth regulator, sodium silver thiosulfate; and Bayer CropScience's insecticide/acaricide, spirotetramat, and herbicide, tembotrione. The decisions require formal adoption by the European Commission and are scheduled to come into effect from May 1st 2014. The ais already hold three-year provisional approvals in several EU member states.
