Brazil MPs OK bill to ease crop duster purchases
The Brazilian parliamentary agriculture committee has approved a bill to facilitate the purchase by farmers of crop dusters. The draft law 5983/13 seeks to extend provisions in Law 10,200/01 that already sets reduced interest rates from the national economic and social development bank, the BNDES, for the purchase of other agricultural equipment. Rapporteur MP Vitor Penido says the inclusion of the aeroplanes will improve the country's competitiveness in agriculture. The dusters are used for applying fertilisers, seeds and biological control products as well as pesticides.
