More funds for EU studies on bee losses
The European Commission has confirmed further funding to 17 EU member states to continue surveillance studies on honeybee colony losses in the 2013-14 season, starting from this autumn. A sum of over €1.8 million ($2.4 million) will support 70% of costs. Studies were also funded last year (Agrow No 647, p 10). Several factors have been suggested as affecting bees, including pesticide use.
