Soybeans to boost Brazil crop area to over 54 m ha

The Brazilian crop area is to rise by some by 1.7-3.5% this year to some 54.2-55.2 million ha, according to the first estimate based on growers' intentions from the Ministry of Agriculture's supplies agency, the Conab. The major growth in the crop area is to come from the planting of cotton, soybeans and wheat. The planting of maize is expected to fall with the lost area being taken up by soybeans.
