Brazil emergency OKs bioinsecticide Diplomata
Brazil has granted emergency use approval for Swiss company Andermatt Biocontrol's (Grossdietwil) viral insecticide, Diplomata (Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus), against Helicoverpa spp. The authorisation was granted to Koppert do Brasil last month for two years. It is for the control of cotton bollworms (H armigera), corn earworms (H zea), and tobacco budworms (H virescens), the company says. Diplomata can be used in organic farming as well as in IPM programmes, Andermatt adds. Koppert will distribute the product.
