Chemtura's agchems ahead 4% in Q3
Strong demand for insecticides and seed treatments in Latin America contributed to a 4.4% rise in Chemtura AgroSolutions' sales to $119 million in the third quarter of 2013. Lower sales volumes in North America were offset by higher sales in Europe, the company points out. The downturn in North America reflected a shift in sales from the third to the second quarter. The European business benefited from higher demand for herbicides and adjuvants. The overall $5 million revenue gain over the third quarter of 2012 came from a $6 million rise in prices and $3 million from higher volumes, partly offset by a $4 million adverse currency effect.
