Syngenta GM maize targets true armyworms
Syngenta has received US EPA approval for its genetically modified insect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant Agrisure Viptera 3110 (MIR162xBt11xGA21) maize to control true armyworms (Pseudaletia unipuncta). That is an industry first, the company maintains. Agrisure Viptera 3110, which produces the Bt Vip3A and Cry1Ab toxins, was already approved for the control of a range of above-ground lepidopteran pests. The maize is also tolerant to the herbicides, glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium.
