Syngenta GM maize targets true armyworms

Syngenta has received US EPA approval for its genetically modified insect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant Agrisure Viptera 3110 (MIR162xBt11xGA21) maize to control true armyworms (Pseudaletia unipuncta). Agrisure Viptera 3110, which produces the Bt Vip3A and Cry1Ab toxins, was already approved for the control of a range of above-ground lepidopteran pests. The maize is also tolerant to the herbicides, glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium.
