Adulterated Ceprid insecticide widespread in Paraguay
Paraguayan authorities have found systemic marketing of an adulterated insecticide in the country. The plant health and seed quality service, the Senave, reports that China Agrochemicals' Ceprid 70 contains 10.2% of emamectin benzoate rather than the registered 70% acetamiprid. The service has received complaints that would demonstrate that the practice is widespread. The company has no registration for the found active ingredient. The Senave continues to investigate who is responsible. China Agrochemicals' products have been impounded and its registration suspended. Senave director Francisco Regís Mereles says that "this type of practice is down to price differentials among ais leading to companies declaring a false ai at import" of its product.
