Brazil MPs OK limit to agchem analysis time
A Brazilian Senate committee has approved a time limit on the analysis of pesticides for registration. The Constitution and Justice Committee has approved draft legislation seeking a 180-day limit. The draft bill, PLS 209/2013, goes for consideration of the Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Committee. The 180-day proposal would run from the date of the product or active ingredient registration application's submission. A favourable conclusion to the analysis would result in approval within 15 days. The bill would allow for only one extension to the term, and of equal length, and only when "duly justified".
