EU confirms national measures on rodenticides
The European Commission has issued official decisions concerning member-state requests to waive the mutual recognition of approvals of two non-crop rodenticides. Germany is given permission to restrict use of Lipha Tech's Maki Pat (bromadiolone) to trained or licensed professionals only, even though the same measure was not imposed on the product's first EU approval (Agrow No 674, p 9). Meanwhile, the Commission has rejected a Dutch request to refuse approval of Denka Registrations' paraffin block formulation, Sorkil Bloc (difenacoum), because of efficacy concerns. The Commission noted that the product's first approval, gained by Edialux France, had already been recognised by several other member states (Agrow No 673, p 9).
