Brazil agchem container recycling up 12%

The disposal and recycling of empty pesticide containers has continued to grow in Brazil. Collections were up by 11.8% in the first three quarters of 2013 to 32,040 tonnes, according to the pesticide container recycling organisation, the inpEV's, Campo Limpo programme. Collections topped 40,000 tonnes for the 12-month period ending September 30th. Growth is uneven across the country, with more established systems in some states, while others still have a nascent programme. Four relatively minor states each saw collections rise by over 40%. The programme was hitting new records on 9% growth in the first half (Agrow No 669, p 20), and reached just over 37,700 tonnes for the whole of 2012 (Agrow No 657, p 12).
