Argentine "agchem" imports up 20% in first nine months
The combined import of pesticides and fertilisers into Argentina rose by some 20% in the first nine months of 2013, media report. They cite the market agency, IES. It found imports up 20.3% in US dollar terms at $1,703.3 million, and by 16.9% in volume terms. The major exporter to Argentina was the US, replacing China from the same period last year. Russia took over from Brazil as the third major exporter. The US accounted for a third of the origin of Argentine imports. Exports were up by 21.3% at $451.5 million. That came despite a steep fall in volumes of some 22%, as prices jumped by over half (55%).
