Peru official agchem residue lab gains accreditation
The Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture's plant and animal health service, the Senasa, has received accreditation for its pesticide and agricultural residue analysis laboratory. Its inputs and toxic residues control centre gained ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for "guarantee of confidence in analytical results", the Ministry reports. The centre has demonstrated ten test methods, allowing accreditation that turns it into a "strategic laboratory to facilitate exports of agricultural produce", the Ministry comments. Senasa chief Jorge Barnechea notes that the accreditation will also support the service's work in the registration of pesticides.
