Australasia to OK DuPont Pioneer's GM canola

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has proposed the approval of food containing DuPont seed subsidiary DuPont Pioneer's genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant Optimum Gly (73496) canola. The line produces the GAT4621 (glyphosate acetyltransferase) enzyme to confer glyphosate tolerance. The company expects the canola to be cultivated in North America and Australia. The line was approved by the USDA earlier this year (Agrow No 669, p 14). The FSANZ decision is open to public comment until January 31st 2014.
