Brazil Anvisa to OK Dow's pyroxsulam
A Brazilian regulatory authority has recommended the approval of Dow AgroSciences' herbicide, pyroxsulam. The national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, granted its conditional listing in its annex of approved active ingredients last month. The listing is under a 30-day comment period starting from December 26th. It would be registered for post-emergence use on wheat. The Anvisa is one three regulatory agencies governing the approval of pesticides in Brazil. Full registration would require the assent of the environmental agency, the Ibama, and the Ministry of Agriculture. The ai was first approved in Chile in 2007 (Agrow No 532, p 21).
