Brazil amends agchem input import quotas/tariffs
The Brazilian Trade Ministry's chamber of commerce, the Camex, has set import quotas and temporarily cut import tariffs on products used in the manufacture of pesticides. The moves are set out in Camex Resolution 96/2013 of last month, while the chamber’s advisory office the Secex’s Ordinance 20/2013 set criteria for the application of the measures. Each of the measures has a 12-month term. Imports of monomethylamines are to be limited to 60 tonnes, monomethylamine salts to 738 tonnes, dinitropropylamine salts to 1,205 tonnes, and chloro-2,6-dinitro-4-(trifluoromethyl) benzene to 3,600 tonnes. The tariffs on each have been cut from 14% to 2%.
