Roundup prices boost Monsanto in Q1
Higher prices for Roundup (glyphosate) herbicide boosted Monsanto's revenues by 6.9% to $3,143 million in the first quarter of its fiscal 2014. Revenues from the company's agricultural productivity segment rose by 23.9% to $1,467 million in the three months ended November 30th 2013. Seed and trait sales slipped by 4.5% to $1,676 million. "The first quarter demonstrated that our business performance is squarely on track with several key milestones and that we have the right growth strategy in place," says chairman and CEO Hugh Grant.
