Australia to ban molinate herbicide
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) proposes to ban the herbicide, molinate, on health and environmental grounds. In preliminary review findings issued this month, the APVMA recommends that all active ingredient and product registrations of the herbicide be cancelled. The move follows a review that was initiated in 2003 due to fears raised in the US. The herbicide was subsequently phased out there.
