Judge tosses out US EPA civil rights suit
A federal judge has dismissed a suit against the US EPA alleging that it had violated the civil rights of Latino children by failing to protect them from pesticides. The judge did not reach the merits of the complaint, but granted the EPA's motion to dismiss on jurisdictional grounds. "The Court sympathises with the plaintiffs and others similarly situated if the allegations in the [complaint] are true," wrote US District Judge William Orrick in his January 16th ruling. "However, the Court is bound to apply the law as it stands."
