EU approval nears for more biocides
The EU Standing Committee on Biocidal Products has voted in favour of proposed approvals for four non-crop pesticides. They were all in the EU review of existing biocides. Decanoic acid was evaluated for use in the product groups, insecticides/acaricides and repellents/attractants. Octanoic acid and S-methoprene are for insecticide/acaricide use. Bis(N-cyclohexyl-diazenium-dioxy)-copper (Cu-HDO) is a wood preservative. Ireland acted as rapporteur member state for S-methoprene, with Austria as rapporteur for the other three active ingredients. The Committee's decisions go forward for formal adoption by the European Commission.
