Syngenta rejects request to suspend GM maize traits
Syngenta has rejected a request by two major US grain groups that the company suspend US sales of two genetically modified maize lines until they are approved for import by China. The request to suspend sales of Agrisure Viptera (MIR162) and Agrisure Duracade (5222) followed recent rejections by Chinese authorities of several US maize and dried grain shipments that contained Viptera maize. The GM line has yet to be approved by China. It received US approval in 2010 (Agrow No 590, p 34).
