Peru agchem market to have fallen 8% in 2013
Peruvian industry insiders expected an 8% fall in the pesticide market for 2013, newswire el Andina reports. It cited a prediction in the middle of the last quarter from the crop protection association, CultiVida. The expectation was for a $92 million market compared with $100 million for the previous year. The fall would have been a consequence of poor crop prices for Peruvian produce such as coffee, rice and onions and changeable weather conditions. The prognosis included a slight recovery in the final quarter on more stable weather. The expectations for the current year are for a complete recovery. CultiVida associates accounted for half the market in 2012, el Andina reports.
