Syngenta gains PGR approval in Canada

Syngenta has received Canadian approval for the plant growth regulator (PGR), Parlay (trinexapac-ethyl), for use in perennial ryegrass seed production. Use of the product reduces lodging and increases seed yields, the company points out. Parlay will "improve the harvestability of what can be a difficult crop to harvest", says Harley Bell, senior product manager at sole distributor BrettYoung. Syngenta sells trinexapac-ethyl in Canada as Primo Maxx for use on golf courses and turf farms. It has been on sale for use on turf, cereals and other crops in various markets worldwide since the 1990s.
