Catalan fruit growers cut agchem use up to 30%
Fruit growers in the Spanish region of Catalonia have cut their pesticide use by 15-30% in the past growing season. The growers have been part of the Fruit.Net programme. It includes various grower associations, universities and public bodies that have developed pest control strategies for apples, pears, melons and citrus fruits. The declared principal aim is to "optimise the use of pesticide products and minimise the presence of residues in their fruit".
