Bayer opens Australian crop breeding centre

Bayer CropScience has opened its Australian wheat and oilseeds breeding centre at Longerenong College near Horsham, Victoria. The company has invested Aus$14 million (US$12.3 million at the current rate) in the facility, which will focus on yield and productivity improvements (Agrow No 659, p 2). The centre will employ up to 20 staff and work closely with the College's agricultural training programmes, the company points out.
