AgroFresh/Amerongen fruit technology deal

Dow AgroSciences business unit AgroFresh has agreed a partnership with the Dutch company, Van Amerongen CA-Technology (Tiel), to market a new technology for controlled fruit ripening. The Advanced Control Respiration (ACR) system will combine new equipment and control systems with a comprehensive set of fruit quality management services, the companies point out. The alliance will be based on Van Amerongen's expertise in controlled atmosphere storage equipment and AgroFresh's experience with its post-harvest plant growth regulator, SmartFresh (1-methylcyclopropene), which has been on the market for ten years. The new ACR technology will be commercialised globally as an AgroFresh brand. It will undergo "significant market validation" in the 2014/15 season, the companies note.
