Brazil Anvisa OKs neem biopesticide
The Brazilian national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, has approved a botanical insecticide/fungicide extracted from the neem tree (Azadirachta indica). It granted its listing in its annex of approved active ingredients last month. Full approval requires the assent of the environmental agency, the Ibama, and the Ministry of Agriculture. The latter approved neem oil for use on organic crops in 2012 (Agrow No 642, p 19).
