Sinochem Agro issues insecticide IP warning
Chinese company Sinochem Agro has cautioned the Chinese pesticide industry over its intellectual property rights to the diamide insecticide, SYP-9080. The insecticide was jointly developed by Sinochem Agro and the Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry, both of which are subsidiaries of the Chinese state-run chemical conglomerate, Sinochem Group. The active ingredient was registered in April last year but has yet to be given an official English name. Sinochem Agro says that it will "spare no effort" to assist government offices to investigate and bring to justice any individual or organisation found to be illegally involved in the manufacture and sale of the ai. The ai is a result of Sinochem’s desire to develop pesticides with its own intellectual property rights (Agrow No 666, p 23).
