Bayer to acquire bio ST business Biagro
Bayer CropScience has agreed to acquire Argentine seed treatment business Biagro Group (Gral Las Heras). The company produces and distributes biological seed treatments. It has some 140 employees and facilities in Argentina and Brazil. Biagro’s portfolio includes seed-applied inoculants, plant growth-promoting micro-organisms and other bacterial and fungal strain-based IPM products. Head of Bayer’s seed treatment business, SeedGrowth, Matthias Haug says that the Biagro product range will "substantially improve soybean productivity" and be a valuable addition to Bayer’s portfolio. The company’s head of the Latin America region, Eduardo Estrada Whipple, adds that the acquisition underlines the strategic role of Argentina "in our growth ambitions".
